Gary Steed I always pride myself on finding unique gifts for those around me, so I am almost embarrassed that I did not think of this myself, but I'm sure glad that my brother did. He & I used to go to the airshows with our Dad when we are little, so we have both always been preoccupied with flight. I guess that is why he purchased me a Glider Ride Certificate for Christmas. I was absolutely shocked when I opened it. I was immediately excited about going, and wanted my brother to go with me. We both went together (amidst a great deal of protesting from my sister-in-law), and really enjoyed the whole experience. I had been up before in small plane, but it was nothing like going up in a non-motorized glider plane. Gliding through the air like that, was the closest I can imagine to simulating the actual flight of an eagle. Thank you for providing my brother and me with such an indescribable experience. They say that you can never teach an old dog new tricks, but this old dog is ready to try! I retired last year, and have been determined to enjoy my "golden" years ever since. I booked a glider plane ride because it seemed like something I might enjoy. "Enjoy" is an understatement. Soaring through the air is now something that I crave like water (or those wonderful sausage balls that my wife makes). I now expect to spend many weekends out at the airport, as this has become an obsession of sorts. Thank goodness I have a wonderful and understanding wife! She does not share my obsession, but seems content with the fact that I have a new passion (she is not a jealous woman). Thanks again for introducing me to the world of soaring! The weather did not look like it was going to allow us to go up, but Chris kept us busy explaining everything there is to know about soaring, and before we knew it the clouds cleared, and we were ready to go up! It was SO worth the wait! I have never seen anything so pristinely beautiful as it was up there. It was so calm and quiet. I will never forget that day. I am so glad that I finally followed through on the thing I have been talking about for years! It had almost become a joke with me and my friends. We'd all ask each other, "Hey what do you want to do this weekend", and we'd always say "Let's go check out some sailplanes and go for a ride" I finally got tired of ending up in the same places every weekend and called you guys. You set things up for me and before I knew it I was out there with a couple of my buddies (the rest of my lame friends bailed on me) ready to go for a ride! It was the perfect day for soaring, and the view from up there was awesome! Now, next week when we are all sitting around doing the same old stuff, at least we have something cool to remember (and rub in the faces of the guys who didn't go!) Thanks for an awesome time! I have a very stressful job, and rarely take time out for myself. When a co-worker sent me a link to your website and suggested that I reserve a glider ride for us that weekend, I thought she was crazy. Ever since I was a little boy, I wanted to be a pilot. Somewhere along the way that just became one of those forgotten dreams of youth. My wife bought me a glider ride for my birthday, and now that I've had a taste.that dream is reborn! I have always been fascinated by flight. It just seems so incredible to me that man was not born to fly, but can engineer things to make it possible! I spent a lot of time talking to everyone out at the airport, and suddenly all of the things that prevented me from learning to fly in the past, don't seem quite so insurmountable. Now that I have soared through the air like a bird, anything seems possible. I can't wait to get back up there! Thanks for making this possible!
I had never considered taking a Glider Plane Ride until my wife suggested (believe it or not.she is definitely the more adventurous of the two of us) that we do it while on vacation. I usually let her make all the vacation plans (crazy man that I am) so I told her I would not interfere if she wanted to plan it. She called you and made all the arrangements and it turned out to be the highlight of our vacation! It was peaceful and relaxing, and not frightening at all (I get nervous looking down a particularly steep stairwell!). It is not something that I would have ever done on my own, but now that I've seen how tranquil it is up there, it is definitely something that I would do again. Thank goodness for my pushy wife and 1-800-SKY-RIDE!
